Suzanne & Lawrence Burgess established Solway Renewables in 2010 after spending many years in the energy efficiency industry. (Solway Renewable Energy Ltd is our Sunday title!!)
Solway Renewables is a small family firm with a big heart. We are committed to reducing carbon dioxide emissions in homes and small businesses. We have 30 years experience in the energy industry and a passion for using local labour and local products whenever possible.
Suzanne has over 20 years experience in the energy industry from British Gas in the early nineties to creating and running Energy Efficiency Advice Centre for Cumbria and Lancashire on behalf of Carlisle City Council and with Energy Saving Trust as partners.
Among other successes Suzanne:
- Took the advice centre from no funding or staff to a £2 million turnover.
- Is recognised in the energy industry as an innovator introducing large scale solar thermal and air source heat pumps to Cumbria in 2004 – 8.
- was responsible for bringing millions of pounds of energy efficiency and renewable energy funding into Cumbria.
Since 2009 Suzanne has worked as an environmental and management consultant providing support for small businesses entering the energy business. Suzanne does everything at Solway Renewables apart from the installations which she leaves to Lawrence.
Lawrence is a qualified electrician. He managed an insulation and renewable energy company in Cumbria in the mid 2000’s and then spent several years developing domestic properties and building a home maintenance business. Lawrence is responsible for the installation of the solar panels in Cumbria and managing our brilliant sub-contractor roofers and scaffolders.
He’s well know for his constant muttering to himself while working. Ignoring him seems to work well!
